STEPS FOR INSTALLING WINDOWS 8 AND LINUX.
Windows 8 Installation
Instructions for installing Windows 8 are taken from the following source. All rights belong to:

1. Install Windows 8 OS following the above steps
* with the windows 8 operating system already installed
2. Enter to Windows Disk Management
* There are several ways to access. I will explain 2 only
Step 1 of 2
Open the "Control Panel" over:
» Press Win button + R write 'control panel' and press ENTER

* Disk-Manager looks like:
3. Select the hard disk [Single Partition] where it was installed the windows 8 operating system and press right click.
4. Click on Shrink Volume
5. In the box where says 'Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB ' specify the size of the space you want to use for linux.
* in this example I will use 29944 MBs for my unpartitioned space that will serve to install my distro of linux* Disk-Manager looks like:
6. Click Shrink
* Disk-Manager looks like:
7. Restart Windows
Ubuntu Linux Installation
8. Insert the DVD or memory with Linux
9. Boot into Ubuntu installation media. CD or USB stick
* There are 2 ways to install ubuntu.
a. Install ubuntu alongside Windows 8
In this case (a) select this option and follow the steps.
b. Manual
10. Select 'Something else'
11. Creating partition for swap.
Select free space and click +
select the following parameters:
Size: 512 MB
Type of new partition: Primary
Location for the new partition: Beginning of this space
Use as: Swap Area
Click 'OK'.
12. Creating partition / (root filesystem).
Size: 20000 MB (*This is an Example. This size depends on the size of the hard drive)
Type of new partition: Logical
Location for the new partition: Beginning of this space
Use as: Ext4 journaling file system
Mount Point: /
13. Creating partition /home.
Size: 65368 MB
Type of new partition: Logical
Location for the new partition: Beginning of this space
Use as: Ext4 reiserfs file system
Mount Point: /home
13. Click 'Install Now' and follow the instructions.
14. The system boots as follows:
15. Select the OS of your preference and press ENTER.
CONFIGURATION OF GRUB BOOTLOADER WITH GRUB-CUSTOMIZER
* GRUB CUSTOMIZER is a graphical settings manager for GRUB2 and BURG. With this program we can tell the system which OS you want to load by default.
To install and use this program follows these steps:
16. Boot in the installed linux
17. Open Terminal
18. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer
19. sudo apt-get update
20. sudo apt-get install grub-customizer
21. grub-customizer
List configuration: Allows you to change the position of the operating system on the boot menu.
General settings: Allows you to set the sequence of execution of the operating systems installed on the system.
Appearance settings: Used to configure the appearance of boot loader.
Configure and enjoy the two operating systems!
